There’s no way to be a perfect mother but a million ways to be a good one. – Jill Churchill
Being a mother is the best, hardest, most interesting, most fun, and most maddening thing I’ve ever done, or will ever do. Mothering is a hard work. Even on our best days parenting our kids, there are difficult moments. Many days, it is the occasional joyful moment that makes it all worthwhile. Other times, it may not feel like the good justifies the bad.
But it can also lure us into a negative mindset if we don’t balance the “parenting is hard” messages with the just-as-true “having kids is amazing” ones.
In that spirit, here are the 5 things I love about being a mom.
- Unconditional love that flows between us
The moment I saw him when I gave birth, I felt this overwhelming love and sense of belonging, like I was meant to be his mom. The love between a mother and a child is as unconditional as it gets. No matter how annoying they are, no matter how much I get on their nerves, the love we share is as unshakably as a rock.

2. Watching my husband be a Dad
This is genuinely the most amazing sight I’ve ever seen. He is so loving and patient our son. He looks at him like I’ve never seen him look at anyone before. I love how he takes good care our son the way he takes good care of me. He is his whole world and it’s the best thing in the world to watch.

3. Boys love their Mamas!
Now, I’m sure girls love their mamas too, but from what I’ve heard, there is an extra special love between mothers and sons. And let me tell you, I feel it. Even though my son probably thinks dad’s more fun and playful, whenever they he is sick or in need of comfort, it’s all mom for sure. I will treasure the short years where just my arm around them is enough to make them feel safe and secure.

4. Mornings are ten times better
Waking up to the sweetest little face every morning, even if he did keep me up all night, is by far the best thing I could have asked for. Mornings are so much more special and MADE for cuddling, hugging & kissing and you’re set for the rest of your life.

Lastly and the most important thing I loved being a mom.
5. I’m a better version of myself
I am a better person because I’m a Mom. It has brought a whole new meaning to the word LOVE for me. There is nothing like it. Life has so much more meaning and purpose. Life was good before, but now, it’s amazing. Literally, I have a purpose and pure happiness. When things are hard, if I just look at my sweet babe everything is instantly better and I remember why I’m here and why life is important. Though the responsibility is immense, motherhood might be the best way for us to leave a lasting legacy.

Motherhood is the best gift I’ve ever been given. It’s been hard, it’s been challenging, but it’s ALL worth it.
