Tips on How to Overcome Depression in Times of Pandemic

In this current situation that we have right now all over the world, there are some people suffering from depression. With this pandemic, all are affected no matter what kind of status of life you have. No one is exempted. By the way, what is depression? Maybe some of us are not aware that we are already experiencing it. According to the Mayo Clinic, depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called a major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think, and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes you may feel as if life isn’t worth living.

In order for us to overcome depression, the following are some tips to follow:

1. Be prayerful

Some of us remember God when we are in times of difficulties and uncertainties. Maybe its high time that we should strengthen our relationship with God. Every time that you feel sad and losing hope, talk to Him, and trust Him with all your heart. I assure you that He will never fail you. 

2. Communicate to your loved ones

Family is family no matter what. If you have your own family, try to reach out to them and tell them what do you feel and what is in your mind. Whatever you are coming through, your family will always be there for you and they are one who will help you and understands you. Don’t make walls on them but rather the more that you should become closer to them so that you will not feel alone and you will be overthinking of everything.

3. Avoid gadget

The gadget is one of the reasons why people get upset. Why? Because of the different platforms of social media where people can get information on what is happening in the world. The more that you keep on looking and checking your gadgets the more that you will worry because of the news and other information that can trigger yourself from being depressed.

4. Exercise every day

Instead of staying in your room, why not try to go out and breath some fresh air. Have some walk in your backyard or in the park for several minutes so that you can see other things and divert your attention. 

4. Eat healthy foods

Eating can make you feel better too. But be careful of the food that you will eat. Make sure that it is a healthy one that can boost your immune system. 

5. Stay positive and happy

No matter how hard is life right now, we should never lose hope because at the end of the day it will be over in according to His plan. We should always remember that everything happens for a reason. God will never allow this to happen if there is no reason at all. In every problem that we have, there will always be a solution if not today, maybe tomorrow. 

If you feel sad and depressed, always remember that you are blessed because you have the gift of life that God gives it to you and you have a family you will never leave you. All you need to do is open up and talk to them. You are not alone and you are love.
