“Self care is not selfish. You cannot serve others when you are drained!”
Two years ago, when I applied for an internet service provider, it came with freebies which includes free subscription with Netflix for 6 months. At first, I was just curious, why Netflix is so famous, until I discovered Korean Drama series!
I remember, I saw a trailer of Korean Odyssey and got interested. As I started watching, every episode became so exciting and I would be so curious how the next episode would be.
And then soon after I finished it, feelings of happiness, sadness and longingness for that Korean Drama and their actors started to build in.
After feeling those mixed emotions, excitement will replace all of those as I am going to start a new series again (parang life you need to move to open a new chapter in life, chos!). And as day goes by, I didn’t realized that I have already finished watching Strong Bong Soon, Mr Sunshine, Healer, K2, Suspicious Partner, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Her Private Life, I am Not A Robot, Fight For Your Way, Black Knight, The Empress Ki, Hwarang, Goblin, Beautiful Gong Shim, Descendants of the Sun, Hotel de Luna, Vagabond, Crash Landing On You, My Secret Romance and the list go on and on and on.
And presently, Lee Min Ho (a famous Korean Actor, an Oppa) has an on going new series which is the King, Eternal Monarch, and currently my life’s extra added excitement and happiness (parang extra cheese sa burger o kaya extra scoop ng ice cream sa halo-halo) especially during fridays and saturdays, as those are its airing days!

One time, as I am browsing through FB, I saw this article that says “10 Reasons why Filipinos love Korean Dramas” and I couldn’t agree more.
- Attractive Actors
- Stories not easy to predict
- Majorities are G- Rated
- Cultural Appeal
- Creativity is apparent
- Romantic story without the need of obscene scenes
- Great OST
- Cool clothes
- Vocabulary stretch
- Create emotional connection with the viewer
Most of us, our daily lives are full of stress and worries, may it be internal or external and we have our own ways to cope up and to be recharged, especially now that we are under ECQ! Some will start a new hobby, some will make it a chance to do what they really love like baking, cooking, sewing, vlogging, listening to audio books, reading, enrolling to online classes, playing Dota & others like tik toking, etc., but as for me watching KDrama is one of my stress reliever, my antidote to stress. Aside from being absorbed by Kdramas, following are basically the most helpful things to do to combat stress:
- Praying
- Deep breathing
- Music
- Healthy eating
- Exercising
- Laughing
- Enough sleep and rest

As a mother of 3, ages 3,4 & 6, with no house helper, and with an OFW husband, you can definitely imagine how my daily routine would be. My children are full of energy, they are healthy and super active (which I am so grateful and thankful for), always hungry, always messy! I think most of the kids have this special power where a piece of cookie or a slice of fruit can ruin the entire house literally! Our house is like a flea market – busy, noisy and lively, full of their little dramas and cries, laughters and chit chats plus the sound of kiddie cartoons in the background. We may not appreciate these very often but these are the greatest blessing a mother could ask for and at the same time the very reason why we are always exhausted and tired that is why recharging is so important to keep us going, to keep us doing the same thing, same chores every single day with so much patience and so much love without fail.
How about you, what are your ways to relieve stress and what do you do to keep your sanity intact with the daily unending chores of love and life?
Feel free to share maybe I could also apply it to mine!
Stay safe! Stay stress free and always pray!
