Each night, before we go to bed, I always ask my 6 year old daughter how her day was. But this time, it hit me so hard that her question makes me feel numb and it took me quite a few seconds before I utter any word or answer.
“Mommy what is covid19? And why we are not allowed to go out? Why we cannot go to the malls? Why daddy cannot come home from abroad? These simple questions are coming out from a child who in a way is getting affected on what’s happening in the world right now. As a mom, I can’t seem to find a word on how to define it.
Should I explain the exact definition of it, or should I just make some so called “make believe story” to ease the feeling of burden to my child? I thought only parents are getting worried or being panicky on the current lockdown happening all over. Looking at her teary eyes, I suddenly said that covid 19 is something serious that we need to pray hard to God to make it stop. Later on, she replied saying that “Mom, i don’t want to get sick and be alone in the hospital!”
Simple statement, yet it can break you into pieces. Not enough Webster based definition can fulfill your child’s mind.
This is not the time to criticize the government, nor the time to be hard headed. If we love our children, then let’s all follow simple rules. My children is my life…What about yours???
Go home, my people, and lock your doors! Hide yourself for a little while until the Lord’s anger has passed! ISAIAH 26:20
