Beauty In Unprepared Motherhood

“Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world”.

– John 16:21

Most women dreamed of having their own family or giving birth at a certain age. I was one of them. Apparently, I was only twenty two years old when I had my first born child and named him Markieff.

I remember when I first found out I was pregnant, I did not know what to do. I was too afraid to tell my Parents about my situation because I was only a 4th year college student, taking my thesis and about to graduate. It took me five months before I told my mother and the response was extremely obnoxious.

November 10, 2014, was the beginning of everything and the end of all suffering. When I had my first glance at his little angelic face, the world felt like a great existence for me. He was the most beautiful creature I have ever seen in my life. My heart was pounding and tears began to fall from my eyes. It was like a magical moment when you were just in pain a few hours ago and then suddenly this little child came out from your womb.  I thank the Lord for giving me such a wonderful gift a woman could ever receive. A gift that no one can ever replace.

After that day, I promised to myself that I will do what it takes to become a better mother to him. Each day I discover myself learning new things that I did not experience to do in my life. I learned how to change diapers, prepare his milk, take him to bath and many more. But the challenging part was overcoming the unending sleepless night! I did not know that sleeping was that important, not until I became a mother.

It was such a tremendous moment that made me change my perceptions towards life. I think that becoming a mother will inspire and encourage you to do better at everything. It does not matter whether it is an unplanned birth or you gave birth at the right age. What matters most is that you treasure this gift given by God. This means that you will work hard so that you will be able to give all your child’s needs.

Mommies, do not be afraid of what the future holds for you and your children. God did not put you in that position just to let you down. Remember that he has good plans for you and all you need to do is have faith in him. You will face many challenges along the way and may feel lost sometimes but always remember God through your children. They are His precious gift to you. He loves you no matter what!

“We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them”.

-John 4:16
