Sports Enthusiast

When I became a sports enthusiast?

It all started when my dad bought me a badminton racket when I was 10 years old. At young age, I don’t have any idea on how play badminton. My dad taught me every morning and afternoon outside in our home. Until I’ve learned the basic to advance skills and techniques of playing badminton. When I was in Grade 6, we have a school activity called intramurals. Badminton is one of the sports on the list that every student can join. I wanted to join but, in my mind, I’m not that confident because I’m a shy person and I don’t know if I can do it. I told to my dad about the sports activity, then he wants me to join. He encourages me to give it a try and not to be afraid.

My first favorite sport!

With full confidence, I joined and signed up for the badminton activity. I prepare myself for the game, I practice after school with the help of my family.  I can’t remember how many battles I took at that time. Luckily, I’ve reached the final round for the championship level. And, I can’t believe I made it as a Badminton champion. As a young girl, I can’t believe that I made it, since I’m new to that sport. Thanks to my family who believes and supported me.

After that sports experience in my elementary days, I knew to myself that I still want to continue playing Badminton and other sports. I’ve continued playing Badminton until 2nd-year High school. In my 3rd year, I tried Volleyball, which is also an exciting and interesting sports. I took courage for the try-outs, and luckily, I get in (didn’t expect). That’s the start of my volleyball career. I played volleyball until 3rd year college with some awards and able to be a champion together with my teammates. I experienced losing also in my sports career. Now, that I’m at my early 30’s. I still play Badminton and Volleyball. I can also do Table Tennis and Swimming.

My second favorite sport!

We should consider sport activities in our life because it can help in the development of mental health and physical fitness of the body, it builds character, social skills, cooperation and leadership. It can also develop higher self-esteem.

I want to thank my Dad for introducing me to a sport. I will never know that I have a gift from God that I will became a sports enthusiast.

I’ve learned that if you do not give it a try, you’ll never know.
