Fruit of Thy Labor

When I was a kid, I always asked myself why does our father needed to be away from us every other day (he is a bus driver up to now). Of course, I didn’t know that he was working for us to provide our needs. Our mother was a plain housewife and I only had two siblings then. Whenever our Papa came from work, he always had that “pasalubong” for us to share. I was 9 years old when another sibling came and then after a year, our youngest was added to the family. He did everything to our siblings the way he treated us. He loved us equally. Things I won’t ever forget is that he would miss some of the Christmas and New Year’s eve celebration and even our birthdays because he wanted to provide everything for us. I remember how Papa and Mama raised us even when they had nothing. I remember all of their sacrifices so we could finish our studies.

And I do remember how people questioned his capabilities. I remember how they belittled our family. I remember how they talked about us in social media. I always thank God for having such strong parents. They are truly a great example to us. They taught us to remove all the hatred and grudges from our hearts and not to revenge. They taught us to respect others even if they don’t respect us. They showed us the importance of “love, respect, and honesty” for the family. They taught us to put God first in everything we do.

See how things are possible with God? Papa and Mama, here’s the fruit of your labor. You now have a Registered Physical Therapist, a Chef, a Computer Technician, a Businesswoman, and a Seaman.

Your children are all successful and you are blessed with these two adorable grandchildren. (and soon to be three)

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4
