I AM SHEILA | ARTIST | TEACHER | MOM
One of the things I do during mom breaktime (baby is asleep) is typography or other call it typograffiti or calligraffiti. I started liking this hobby during high school years. I was inspired by colorful cassette tapes, bright fashion and accessories. This is also the era where posters were so popular. I was also inspired by the vandalism on the streets ( street art). From there I started sketching, lettering using gel marker and stabilo (so 90’s). I remember reflector stickers of your name were also popular. I do this to continue what I love to do of course besides taking care of my toddler and to keep my sane of being a full time mom (mommies know what I mean). Most of the sketches here took a month to finish because I only drew if my toddler is asleep, if baby is with her grandmother, or with her daddy.
Here are some of my sample sketches and drawings.
Being a full time mom is the toughest job on earth. It feels like you’re in a prison in your own home. But that doesn’t mean we should give up what we love to do. Take time to do what you love. Rest easy mommies, we know you want the best for your child, but you already are the best.
